Yogurt parfait jars are layers of honey-sweetened Greek yogurt, berries and granola, made ahead in jars so breakfast is ready to grab.

Making them yourself costs less than single-serve yogurt cups or coffee shop parfaits. A large tub of plain yogurt and a bag of frozen berries make four jars with yogurt to spare.

They take 10 minutes to put together and keep for days.

Ingredients and Swaps

  • Greek yogurt: Plain, sweetened with honey and vanilla. Vanilla yogurt works. Skip the honey and vanilla.
  • Berries: Fresh or frozen. Frozen berries thaw overnight and release a little juice, which flavors the yogurt.
  • Granola: Any kind. Toasted oats or chopped nuts are cheaper stand-ins.
  • Chia seeds: Optional, for fiber.

Tips for Parfaits That Stay Fresh

  • Keep the granola separate. Granola goes soggy within hours. Add it just before eating, or pack it in a small bag.
  • Dry the berries. Pat washed berries dry so they don’t water down the yogurt.
  • Use jars with lids. Half-pint jars are the right size and travel well.
  • Layer yogurt first. A yogurt base keeps the fruit from sinking and sticking.

Parfait Questions

Can I use regular yogurt?

Yes. It’s thinner, so the layers will be softer. Greek yogurt has about twice the protein.

How do I make it dairy-free?

Use a thick, unsweetened plant-based yogurt.
