A pomegranate rosé spritzer is a party drink that asks almost nothing of the host. Chilled rosé and pomegranate juice go over ice, sparkling water goes on top, and a few pomegranate seeds make it look like you planned ahead.

Spritzers are also an easy way to make a bottle of wine go further. The juice and sparkling water stretch one bottle into more glasses, and because you’re mixing it, an inexpensive rosé is all you need.

Serve them for New Year’s Eve, a holiday brunch or any night that calls for something bubbly. Our New Year’s Eve Party Menu has food to go with them.

What You’ll Need

  • Rosé: A dry or off-dry rosé. There’s no reason to buy an expensive bottle for a mixed drink.
  • Pomegranate juice: 100% pomegranate juice gives the best color and a tart flavor. A cranberry-pomegranate blend is sweeter and often cheaper.
  • Sparkling water: Plain or citrus-flavored. Club soda works, and lemon-lime soda makes a sweeter drink.
  • Garnish: Pomegranate seeds, an orange slice or a sprig of rosemary or mint.

Tips for the Best Spritzers

  • Chill everything. Cold wine, juice and sparkling water keep the ice from melting fast and watering down the drink.
  • Add the bubbles last. Pour the sparkling water in at the end and stir gently, just once.
  • Taste and adjust. More juice makes it sweeter and deeper in color. More sparkling water makes it lighter.

  • 1 cup pomegranate juice chilled
  • 1 cup sparkling water chilled
  • Ice
  • Pomegranate seeds for garnish

Method

  2. Pour ½ cup of rosé and ¼ cup of pomegranate juice into each glass.
  3. Top each with about ¼ cup of sparkling water and stir gently once.
  4. Garnish with pomegranate seeds and serve right away.

Notes

  • For an alcohol-free version, use sparkling white grape juice in place of the rosé.
  • Add a thin orange slice or a sprig of rosemary to each glass.
  • For a sweeter drink, use lemon-lime soda in place of the sparkling water.

How to Make It for a Crowd

For 8 drinks, stir a full 750 ml bottle of rosé with 1½ cups of pomegranate juice in a pitcher and keep it cold. Pour over ice and top each glass with sparkling water as you serve, so every drink stays fizzy.

Make It Alcohol-Free

Replace the rosé with sparkling white grape juice, or use extra pomegranate juice and sparkling water. For more options, try our Cranberry Spritzers.

Make-Ahead and Storage

  • Mix the rosé and juice up to a day ahead and refrigerate.
  • Add ice and sparkling water only when serving. Mixed spritzers go flat quickly.
  • Leftover pomegranate seeds keep in the fridge for about 5 days and are good on salads and yogurt.

Pomegranate Rosé Spritzers: Your Questions

How do I get the seeds out of a pomegranate?

Cut it in half, hold a half cut side down over a bowl and tap the back firmly with a wooden spoon. The seeds fall out. Cups of ready-to-eat seeds cost more but save the mess.

Can I use sparkling wine?

Yes. Use prosecco or sparkling rosé in place of both the rosé and the sparkling water.
