Winter Sangria

Ingredients
  

  • 1 bottle (750 ml) red wine, dry or semi-dry
  • ½ cup brandy or orange liqueur
  • 1 apple, cored and sliced
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • ½ cup cranberries
  • ½ cup pomegranate seeds
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey or simple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 2 whole star anise
  • Sparkling water or soda, for serving (optional)

Method
 

  1. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine wine, brandy, honey (if using), and spices.
  2. Add sliced apple, orange, cranberries, and pomegranate seeds. Stir gently.
  3. Refrigerate for 1–2 hours to allow flavors to meld.
  4. Remove cinnamon stick or star anise before serving.
  5. Serve over ice and top with sparkling water or soda if desired.
